Downgrade Tutorial

First thing is first, if you have not updated to this newer firmware... DO NOT UPDATE

If you have already updated to 4.3.4 or 4.2.9, follow these steps to revert to an older firmware:

  1. 1.Before anything, PLEASE download TinyUmbrella, and s backup you SHSH hashes you have on Cydia
  2. 2.Select your IPSW you want to downgrade to. All firmware downloads are here
  3. 3.Make sure you have the SHSH hash for the firmware you want to restore to.
  4. 4.Once you performed steps 1-3, use TinyUmbrella and click “Start TSS Server”
  5. 5.Open iTunes and begin restore.
  6. 6.Once iTunes is finished restoring, you WILL GET AN ERROR (10xx)
  7. 7.After you get the error, put your device in DFU mode (Blank Screen)
  8. 8.Open up TinyUmbrella and click “Fix Recovery”
  9. 9.Wait until your device reboots
  10. 10.Your device should now be running your designated firmware

If your device goes back into recovery mode after step 10, try kicking out of recovery instead

Are you stuck in recovery mode OR DFU mode after trying to Downgrade OR restore with iFaith?
(This tutorial is for Windows Users)

Follow these steps to get your device running again:

  1. 1.Identify the mode your device is in. DFU mode or Recovery Mode?
(Recovery Mode displays connect to iTunes screen, DFU Mode is a black screen, iTunes detects it)
  1. 3.Download the zlib1.dll file, and place it in the same directory as fixrecovery43.exe is saved
  2. 4.Open iTunes and plug in your device, keep it running in the background
  3. 5.If your phone is already in DFU Mode, skip to step 8. Otherwise, go on to step 6
  4. 6.Take your device and hold both the home and power button for ten seconds
  5. 7.After 10 seconds, release the power button, but continue to hold the home button until iTunes detects it.
  6. 8.Run Fixrecovery.exe and wait until it kicks your phone out of the recovery loop. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN ACTIVE INTERNET CONNECTION, FIXRECOVERY DEPENDS ON IT.
  7. 9.When you see “exiting libpois0n” in your CMD window, you may disconnect your device, as the rest of the process takes place on your device. It takes about two minutes to complete the process
