Blackberry Messenger

The Blackberry Messenger application is an instant message application for the Blackberry network. /

* If your Blackberry is a central part of your communication tools, and the Messenger application is connected, understanding the status settings and how they impact your activities is important. /
* Communicating the proper status to your contact list ensures that you are not disrupted when you do not want to be. /
* Right-click your Blackberry Messenger contact list to access the status options available.
Available:
* The default status on your Blackberry Messenger is Available.
* When your messenger status is Available, your contacts can send you messages at any time.
* Your Blackberry notifies you of new messages according to your alert profile.
* Your status must be listed as available to receive messages.

Busy:
* A busy status is an automatic setting by the Blackberry Messenger application, indicating that you are occupied with another task. When you receive a message in the Messenger application, your status changes to Busy for two minutes, preventing another message from coming in while you read the current one.
* When you have trackball or button activity on the Blackberry, Messenger changes your status to Busy.
* If you have not responded to Blackberry alerts, the Messenger shifts your status to Busy as well.

Unavailable:
* Set your status to "Unavailable" when you do not want to prevent messages from coming in, but will not be responding to incoming messages right away.
* The "Unavailable" status allows incoming messages without disrupting you with a new message alert.
* Your contacts can reach you, and you have the convenience of coming back to the message when you have time.

Unreachable:
* If your Blackberry is out of the service area, or your Messenger application cannot connect, the status defaults to Unreachable, because your Messenger application cannot communicate with the network.
* If you answer an incoming voice call, your Messenger application lists you as unreachable, preventing incoming messages from disrupting your conversation.
* The status automatically returns to the Available setting when you disconnect the message or return to the service area.

  1. My Blackberry has become a very important tool for me because it helps me keep connected with the people I need to be in constant communication with. Part of the reason why I use a Blackberry is because of the Blackberry messenger and the email application apps. It’s so easy to create messages and emails and send them out to the people I need to contact, and it also serves as a personal assistant to me for when I need reminders about important appointments.
