Android 4.0 Runs on AMD Tablets, Courtesy of Intel’s Tech

In case you didn’t know, the Android-x86 project recently released a test Android 4.0 ISO for AMD Brazos slates. A MSI Wind Tablet will take care of the ROM you find here and actually run Android 4.0 Ice cream Sandwich quite nicely, considering the conditions of this port.

AMD doesn’t provide official support for the community effort, so quit hoping for a genuine AMD Android tablet in the future. The Verge claims that the software doesn’t run perfectly yet, but they still managed to scroll through the UI and run a game, but force closes were abundant and a freeze also happened in a couple of minutes after that. If you think MSI and AMD you’d rather envision a Windows 8 tablet, but we’ll get there, don’t worry, soon enough…

It’s nice to know that Android can also handle x86 platforms, not that anyone thought it couldn’t. And now let’s see what Google thinks about this port and whether or not it wants its OS officially on AMD devices.
