The Taiwanese blog, Digitimes, had reported interesting details about the upcoming iPad. The report claims that Apple is planning to release two iPad models in 2012. One would be the same $499 iPad with the new A6 processor and the other would be $299 and smaller than the original iPad.
Digitimes:
Sources from Apple’s supply chain have claimed that there will be two versions of the new iPad, one targeting the high-end segment and the other the mid-range. Digitimes Research believe the two new iPad models will both be equipped the A6 processor with high-end model coming with a high resolution panel (2048×1536) and the mid-tier model featuring the same grade of panel as iPad 2 (1024×768).
Digitimes also reported that the new iPads will have double the battery life than the iPad 2 and that these two new iPads will be released in sometime this month during Macworld|iWorld.
The likelihood of these rumors to happen is possible, but Apple has stopped going to Macworld conferences
since 2008. It would be very surprising to see Apple make a keynote at
this event because they introduced the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4S at their
own event. Also, the idea that Apple releasing 2 iPad models seems kind of ridiculous. It would be more likely that Apple drops the iPad 2 price to $299 and the new iPad to be $499.
