Apple Reportedly Working on 42-Inch Apple TV, Still In Early Design Stages

Today we have some more info on a rumor that has ben bouncing around for a while, that Apple is working on its own self-contained Apple TV. Right now the current Apple TV is a simple, iOS based device, that requires being hooked up to an external display to be any use. While the 2nd generation was much smaller and more popular, the aforementioned limitation had many people holding off from buying.

More recently, a quote from Walter Isaacson had many people believing that Apple will be releasing a fully self contained Apple TV set, that wont require its own display. Isaacson said that TV was one of the three areas the Steve Jobs wanted to “reinvent”.

The latest news on this rumor is that Apple is in the early stages of designing and producing this device, in lead designer Jony Ive’s secretive studio. According to iDB, rumors like this have competitors very anxious.

Not only that, but word has it that Apple is currently working on a 42-inch television in design guru Jony Ive’s top-secret studio. The flatscreen supposedly has onboard Wi-Fi and also comes in a 50-inch flavor. Rumors of such a device are keeping competitors on the edge of their seats.

As usual, these rumors will remain just that until Apple releases something, but this rumor does seem to be gaining a lot of weight.
